As Memorial Weekend quickly approaches I’ve been starting to plan my packing list to ensure I’m all set for the long weekend. I prefer to keep my packing to a minimum so my secret tip is to pack neutral basics for easy pairing. Dresses are also a must, since they don’t require much effort or thought when you’re on the go. The one thing I always bring no matter what the weather report tells me, are my favorite pair of jeans. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been eternally grateful I packed them. I usually only bring one cross body purse and keep my accessories light and dainty for a chic look. Of course a light weight jacket or sweater is always a good idea for cool nights huddled around a camp fire.
What do you like to bring for weekend getaways?
If I could wear a dress everyday of the week I would and my closet definitely reflects this lifestyle choice. I think this started when I was a child and loved feeling like a princess while playing in the mud of course. As I grew up and realized that sleep is the best and waking up in the morning to birds outside of my window is the vain of my existence, I learned to appreciate the simple method of throw on an go. Not having to figure out what to wear or how to match my top to my pants, helps save me valuable minutes of extra sleep. I love being able to pick one perfect fitting dress, sandals from my shoe rack and a denim jacket as I run out the door knowing that it’s the perfect ensemble for my busy day to night lifestyle. Plus when I’m half asleep I can trust myself and know I’ll still look polished and pulled together even when I may not feel like it before my morning cup of coffee.
What are your favorite go to pieces? Why do you gravitate towards them?
Resort season is upon us and the stores are packed with bright swim wear, sandals and all the makings for a perfect getaway. I myself just picked up two perfectly fitting, yes I dare say perfectly fitting, swim suit tops that go with a million bikini bottoms I already own. When it comes to swimwear I’m a little resistant to spend more than $100 per mix and match piece these days. With retailers like Target, affordable swimwear is just as functional and supportive as high priced brands. If you’re large chested like myself have no fear, Target was to the rescue with underwire, adjustable tops that come in larger bra sizes! So what ever your swim suit needs are, don’t feel pressured or fear that your suits are going to cost you, there are plenty of affordable options out there this season. Save your money for the trip or splurge on the perfect sun hat and tote. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Where is your favorite swimwear from? What do you like about it?
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, but sometimes I struggle with finding the right outfit to wear that’s both stylish and comfortable. This past weekend I traveled to Las Vegas for one of my friend’s bachelorette party and she reminded me how simple pieces really are the best to wear. Today’s look is a version of her effortless look. A soft hand tee, worn with distressed denim will not only withstand long hours of sitting but also allow you to adjust to any climate changes you encounter. Since we were in a warm part of the country, her strappy sandals were functional to wear on the plane and a perfect fit for the pool. Our hair may be the same color but our textures are very different and I tend to travel with a baseball cap to help cover my next day hair instead of washing it daily and drying it out. To make this look your own you can play different colors, patterns or textured pieces and achieve the goal of feeling great and looking refreshed.
